What is it?

Body Works distributed by RelaxZen includes an entire line of supplement shots ranging from sleep aids to energy boosters. The Sleep Shot is a sleep remedy designed for those with hectic lifestyles who often find themselves feeling stressed and anxious. These “sleep shots” are particularly famous for their very sweet and fruity flavor that almost mirrors the perfect summertime fruit shake. We wonder whether the enticing flavor creates a psychosomatic (*cough* placebo *cough*) effect or whether the ingredients are genuinely effective at calming down your nerves and getting you in the zone for some decent Zzz’s. If you’re curious to try RelaxZen’s Sleep Shot but want the insider’s scoop of what this product can really do, keep reading!

What’s in it?

The official website does show us the product’s complete supplement facts label, which created some big smiles here at the office. That smile quickly turned upside down, however, when we realized that the ingredients were listed under “proprietary blend”. Boo! Although this isn’t a very big deal, coming across a “proprietary blend” just gives off a feeble first impression at this point. Supplement companies should be confident about their formula and not show any reluctance to disclose it. So what’s in the 153 mg of “Propriety Relaxation Enhancing and Stress Reducing Blend”? We have our old friend GABA, the calming L-Theanine, a bit of Chamomile, some great Valerian Root Extract, a pinch of L-Threonine, and of course Melatonin.

Let’s go over some of the highlights here.

  • GABA
    • GABA works on the brain by inhibiting neuron activity (i.e. epinephrine over-firing) thereby calming nerves and producing relaxing effects on both the mind and body.
  • Melatonin
    • This hormone is naturally present in our bodies and is responsible for sleep pattern regulation. When taken as a supplement, melatonin may cause you to feel more relaxed and signal your body that you’re ready to power down.
  • L-Theanine
    • L-Theanine extract originally comes from tea. It has relaxing properties and can induce sleep when taken at larger doses.

Sleep Shot also contains Vitamin B6 and B12, which are beneficial towards cognitive function and may increase focus and productivity.

What can it do for you?

The ingredients included in the formula are to say the least, impressive. We can clearly see some of our favorites packed into the blend such as Valerian Root Extract and GABA, which lets us know that the manufacturers at RelaxZen really know what they’re doing. The only thing we’re concerned about at this point is the dosing. The entire blend is 135 mg, which is quite low considering that there are 6 ingredients included. While we don’t want to jump straight to any negative conclusions, we feel skeptical towards the product’s ability to actually bring results. And it seems as though customers agree. Kaye posted on “Sorry it did not work. I guess it does for some,” and jack from commented by saying “its okay price is high.” Don’t get us wrong, there are definitely some positive reviews out there as well. Aubrey from stated that the Sleep Shot “helped calm alot would given 5 stars if lasted longer.” Overall, the comments seem to be 50% negative and 50% positive.

Is it safe?

There are no adverse side effects related to any of the ingredients in the formula. Please remember that the product is intended to be taken at night and not during the day.

How much is it?

A pack of 6 costs $20.00. This may not seem bad at first, but you’re actually looking at $100 for an entire month’s worth of sleep shots. Is this brand the Chanel of sleep aids?

Final Judgment

RelaxZen’s Sleep Shot is a sleep-aid supplement packed with great ingredients. While we were initially excited to try out the product and see what sleepy results would come our way, we felt slightly disheartened by the company’s decision to list the ingredients under “proprietary blend”. Each shot contains 135 mg of 6 very well known, esteemed sleep-enhancing compounds. But is this enough to really allow those insomniacs to catch up on some shut-eye? The customer reviews available online tells us that the product works well for some to induce sleep but not for others. There were also no comments made about feeling more rejuvenated or focused come morning time, which was listed as part of the product’s claims. If the price tag doesn’t bother you then feel free to order these sleep shots to incorporate into your pre-bedtime routine. Otherwise, please know that there are better, more effective sleep aids available that won’t hurt your wallet too much.
